A three-week International Violin Institute designed for…
Project Description
The first in a row of violin masterclasses organized together by creative ambassador Stefan Milenkovich and the platform Serbia Creates took place in Dr Vojislav Vučković Music School in Čačak from 02 to 17 July 2021. The class was attended by 13 students from Serbia, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Japan, indicating that this type of youth education holds great importance in the development of the national classical music scene, as well as the promotion of Serbia globally.
This year, the second Masterclass of Stefan Milenković will be held in Novi Sad, in the new hall of the music school Isidor Bajić where Mr. Milenković is an artistic director. The Masterclass will take place from 7 to 19. August 2022.
The idea is to turn this class into an annual tradition, taking place every summer.
About the International Violin Institute
The Institute was created as a result of almost 25 years of combined experience of professor Milenkovic’s pedagogical work at the Juilliard School (New York) and the University of Illinois. Students will have an opportunity to work daily with Professor Milenkovic through individual, group and theory classes. Along with improving musical expression and violin technique, the participants of the Institute will engage in daily physical exercises designed specifically for violinists in order to prevent injuries, increase mobility and energy, as well as specific breathing exercises, guided relaxation and meditation, which aim to minimize stage fright and sharpen concentration.

A Child Prodigy and Global Violin Sensation
One of Serbia’s most famous violinists and the youngest graduate of the Belgrade University of Arts, Stefan Milenkovich has, in the last few years, taken up a regular teaching position at the Illinois University in USA, as well as a guest lecturer position at the Belgrade Faculty of Music. Upon returning to Serbia, he was awarded a teaching position at the Music Department of the Novi Sad Academy of Arts, as a professor of string instruments. He was also recruited as the art director of the first City Concert Hall in Novi Sad, which is part of the Music and Ballet School of Novi Sad. He started playing the violin at age three, and had his first solo performance with an orchestra at the age of six. In his rich career, he has played the violin for a number of world statesmen: in 1987, he performed for US President Ronald Reagan at a Christmas concert in Washington D.C. In 1988, it was Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachov in Belgrade, while in 1991, Stefan played for Pope John Paul II.
