Startup Genome organization has analyzed over 150 cities so far, and this year’s report included Belgrade – Novi Sad for the first time – the only ecosystem observed in this part of the world, among 54 startups of the world.

The research was started by the Initiative Digital Serbia and it was implemented with support of the Cabinet of Minister for Innovation and Technological Development and UNICEF.

The national start-up ecosystem has increased significantly over the last two years, counting between 200 and 400 start-ups in Belgrade and Novi Sad. High-quality and accessible engineers have been recognized as the key advantage.

The most developed areas are gaming and blockchain, where Serbia is listed as the top 10 in the world.

The report for gaming, as the leading area, includes the company Nordeus, with over 180 million users and $ 75 million of revenue (2018), following 3Lateral and its acquisition by Epic Games. The last, but not the least, the Serbian Games Association, which has over 40 members, supported by Facebook and Unity.

When it comes to blockchain, worldwide growing area, the report states that Serbia is ranked among five countries in the world by the number of blockchain developers. GameCredits and OriginTrail are especially distinguished, so are Blinking and MVP Workshop.
