The national platform Serbia Creates of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) in South Korea have signed a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation in the field of creative industries.
The important cooperation agreement in Busan was signed by Kim Te-jol, General Director of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA), and Nemanja Grbić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to South Korea, on behalf of the Serbia Creates platform of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the creative-innovation center Lozionica. On this occasion, it was emphasized that the bilateral exchange between the Republic of Serbia and South Korea has so far been very dynamic, especially in the areas of digitization, e-government, and IT, which led to the initiative for cooperation in the field of creative industries at the level of the Prime Ministers of the two countries last year.
“There are numerous opportunities for cooperation, exchange of knowledge and ideas, networking of our creatives, and market development between our countries,” highlighted Ana Ilić, Director of Lozionica and the Serbia Creates platform.
“South Korea is one of the world’s leaders in the strategic approach to developing creative industries, which has resulted in the creation of the K-pop music genre and globally popular and award-winning films and TV series, including ‘Parasite,’ which won four Oscars. There is also great interest from their producers in filming in Serbia, and we remember that the popular South Korean singer Park Ji-hoon filmed two music videos in Belgrade, one of which has nearly 700,000 views. It is important to emphasize that Busan is the center for creative industries for all of South Korea, known far and wide for its gaming industry, where Serbia is a European leader. Therefore, the cooperation of the Serbia Creates platform and Lozionica with such an important partner is of great significance for Serbia.”
Additionally, representatives of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) invited Serbian representatives to participate in the “Busan Indie Connect Festival,” a world-renowned indie game festival held annually in Busan, as well as the “Busan Global Webtoon Festival.”
“We are pleased to establish a system of cooperation with Serbia, a leading country in Eastern Europe in the ICT and creative industries sectors, which also have enormous potential for further growth. This cooperation will nurture and contribute to the further development of the content and creative industries with high added value,” emphasized Kim Te-jol, General Director of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA).
